While the number of visitors declined to 84.6 million a 27% drop from 2019 visitor spending fell nearly 37% to a level last seen during the 2009 recession, as pandemic closures and capacity limitation weighed heavily on spending, it was reported during the New Jersey Tourism Industry Association’s annual Advocacy Day event, held online on May 6.

New Jersey s tourism is vital to our state s overall economy, and our industry has been devastated by the pandemic, New Jersey Tourism Industry Association President Adam Perle said in a statement.  Collectively we urge our elected officials to continue and expand their support of the tourism industry to ensure a full and robust recovery.
