location, tracking to the northwest. so i assume they re closing bridges, closing roads. have you seen any of those 3500 national guard troops that the governor has activated? i have not seen the troops but i have seen the local county sheriffs here and highway patrol. they are out in full force. they re taking this extremely serious. everybody is really taking this very, very seriously. i cannot emphasize how damage this dam could be. there s going to be a lot of damage up that direction. jeff, we ll check back in
if you decide not to evacuate like you re supposed to, they ve been very clear about that. they re not going to kill themselves trying to get to you. you have been warned. they ve said it ore and over again. but they are ready and waiting for the storm to pass through so they can immediately come out and start checking out the scene and seeing if anyone did stay and if they do need help. but again, very dangerous winds. they re expecting lots of wind and rain, and we are starting to see that. this surf is usually very, very calm. it s very choppy now, and the waves are getting bigger and bigger as the hours pass by. and we are starting to see some of those rain clouds rushing right over us. sara, thank you. storm chaser jeff petrowski is joining us right now. what are you seeing on the roads?
go. what do you do? hunker down and hope for the best? we have the gps with us at all times and have everything mapped out so we have the escape route planned. sometimes that always doesn t go so well, especially with this advance where people were escaping the tornadoes. the residents were escaping and roads became clogged with traffic. it became a little more difficult especially with fast approaching storms. yeah, catherine that was one of the most terrifying things about watching this unfold live is we had heard the interstate turned into a parking lot, that so many people were trying to escape and then ended up just becoming setting ducks on the interstate and the twister might have been heading their way. that s true. that s exactly what happened. it became a parking lot the and jeff had to do some maneuvering to get us to the safety but he did do that.
and convicted killer joran van der sloot is planning a wedding behind bars. wow, women are desperate. set to happen sometime this month. he met his future wife while serving time at a peruvian prison. prison officials have not granted permission for the wedding just yet. incredible. it is a tornado on the ground. more terrifying and incredible video. the multiple tornadoes ripping through oklahoma. and they were all caught on camera by a husband and wife storm chasing team. joining us on the phone, are catherine and jeff petrowski.
and they need an escape route and some sort of evacuation plan i think. you guys were on the show last week after the disaster in moore, oklahoma. and then you returned home. how long were you home before you you headed back out again when you heard about the new you batch of storms? we have been on the road now for 14 days and we returned home for are 18 hours a refueled, you know, did laundry and all those kind of things and got ready and frankly we needed it. yesterday was so serious that we decided to stream live and we have done a lot of things with fox over the years. yesterday was just rapid fire. everything that could possibly go wrong during a tornado we encountered. clogged intersections. couldn t get through traffic. it was very, very craze. jeff and catherine, thanks for sharing your experience with us. it is interesting to see your pictures. thank you. thanks, guys.
