amalia loyola came in, in critical condition. they went from there to being in serious condition and today they have been upgraded to fair condition. so they are doing better. reporter: the cause of the fire is still under investigation and will be for weeks. but could a child safety feature that allows the driver to automatically lock the rear passenger doors from the inside have anything to do with the deaths? all of the women who survived squeezed through a partition window that separates the passenger area from the driver. and the fatal victims were found near that partition. rescuers eventually opened the doors from the outside but not until the fire was out of control. the child safety locks are basically a product that comes out of the dealer. reporter: he says limo drivers sometimes activated the locks so passengers won t try to hop out while the vehicle is moving or stopped on the street. if the vehicle is in the city and you get someone opening the passenger
