Economic development leaders also remain busy pitching and planning for future projects behind the scenes. On Monday, Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Director Mike Mahler updated the Alpena Municipal Council on local development efforts, and what’s on the horizon.

Konczak buys old antique mall | News, Sports, Jobs

ALPENA An investor in Alpena, who has already begun work to remodel the Royal Knight and State theaters, has added another important piece of property to his portfolio. Jeff Konczak has purchased the former Vaughan and Ragsdale department store building most recently the Antique Mall of Alpena across the street from State Theater on 2nd Avenue. The Antique Mall closed last year. From here on out, the 25,000-square-foot facility will be known as The Vaughn, Konczak said.
