BOE, Belpre City extend park partnership | News, Sports, Jobs

(Photo by Tyler Bennett) BELPRE A partnership between the city and the Board of Education of Belpre City Schools for the use of the ballfields at Civitan Park was unanimously extended Monday by the school board. The district will have exclusive use from Feb. 1 through June 20, 2026, or 180 days after the district or the city would tender a written notice of intent to terminate the agreement. The district will have priority use of the baseball and softball fields, bleachers, dugouts around the fields from Feb. 15 through July 1 of every year during the afternoon and evening hours. The district has to provide the city with specific times of games or practices by Feb. 15 of each year.

(Photo by Tyler Bennett) BELPRE As part of the first board of education meeting of 2021, the Belpre City Schools named Mike Miller as Board President and Fred Meredith as Vice President on Monday evening at Stone Administration Building/Early Learning Center. Both Miller and Meredith were voted unanimously in each of their positions and ran unopposed. This will be Miller’s fourth year on the board and he served as Vice President last year. It will be Meredith’s 11th year.

(Photo by Tyler Bennett) BELPRE Holding the last meeting of the calendar year, the Belpre City Schools Board of Education received a broadband internet update from district Technology Coordinator Matt Morris on Monday evening at the Stone Administration Building/Early Learning Center. During his presentation, Morris announced that Belpre City Schools will be using Motorola NITRO, a wireless broadband network from Motorola Solutions, and it will allow the district to extend the school’s network beyond its traditional methods to those unable to provide internet service or who live in unreliable service areas.
