The Washington Football Team drafted 10 players which is a large draft class in any year. They traded a 2022 5th to the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire an extra 6th and 7th this year. Ron Rivera said they targeted LS Camaron Cheeseman in the 6th because they didn t think he would be available later.
Another interesting note about that trade was Rivera s reasoning behind it. He was interviewed by B Mitch and Finlay on 106.7 the Fan today and said the team didn t want to compete with other teams for the players they planned on taking in the 7th after the draft. Teams can give UDFAs larger contracts than they would get in the 7th round, and if there is a priority free agent it can add up. Rivera was asked about Shaka Toney, and he agreed that would have been a player that got some extra interest after the draft.

Washington is dealing with some pretty significant injuries on offense, and have made a few moves to reinforce their depth vs the Seahawks. Antonio Gibson was injured two weeks ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and missed last week s game after being diagnosed with a painful case of turf toe. He hasn t officially been ruled out for Sunday s game, but his doubtful designation, videos of him at practice Friday, and today s roster move make his status pretty clear.
