The combined Ridgway-Ouray-Silverton track and field team sent five members to state this year, all from the boys' team. The competition took place in Lakewood, in a series of events from Thursday to Saturday. The combined Ridgway-Ouray-Silverton Cross Country team’s runners Hannah Freed and Jeep Demuth compete in the Silverton Scramble on Aug. 26. Out of 22 combined boys' and girls' high school athletes, DeMuth finished fourth with a time of 23:18, while Freed finished 12th with a time of 27:28. The next scheduled cross country race is Saturday at the North Fork Invitational in Hotchkiss at 9 a.m.
