Around 50 migrants were rescued and brought into the harbour at Dover, Kent before dawn today after making the dangerous crossing of the world s busiest shipping lanes overnight.
Data released by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed that 33,001 people have been intercepted making the dangerous journey across the 21-mile Dover Straits in 2022.
Around 80 migrants including young children were brought ashore to Dover Marina in Kent, as official figures show more than 10,000 have now crossed the English Channel so far this year.
