Are the three unnamed state senators mentioned by Dean Nakasone the same senators who have opposed practically every measure proposed by University of Hawaii President David Lassner for many years (“UH president Lassner has done a good job,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Dec. 12)?
So, I guess the state starts funding the First Responder Technology Campus but won’t finish the job for the students in Kihei who need the overpass to cross the highway safely to their school (“$50M state budget item at center of transparency debate,” Star-Advertiser, June 4; “Guarded hope greets stalled opening of Maui school,” Star-Advertiser, March 23).
I appreciate Jean Toyama’s letter on HMSA exec’s pay raises (“HMSA execs’ pay raises go beyond bad optics,” Star-Advertiser, May 3). She brought up a number of specific questions that, as a local doctor, I’d like to answer. She asked:
