The late Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the debut luminary featured in You Are a Star, a new series of illustrated biographies from Scholastic written by Dean Robbins.
TRIBUTES have been paid to a talented artist after his death aged 93. Birtley Aris was born in Sunderland to parents Dorothy and Frederick. He attended Chester Road and West Park Central schools before going on to study at the Sunderland College of Art and Craft. During World War II, he was a Bevin Boy coalminer at Silksworth Colliery. He then went on to work at stained glass studios in Newcastle, London and Brighton, before a stint in the civil service in London, where he met wife Jean Robbins, who died in 2019. Birtley and Jean married in 1955 and in 1960, welcomed daughter Jo.

Family and friends gathered Wednesday in a private service to pay their respects to Vickye James, a community leader and City Council member who passed away March 27.
Song, videos and memories filled Emmanuel Baptist Church as family and friends remembered James. While the service was private for family, it was streamed on Facebook by the Lind Funeral Home with more than a thousand people viewing the service online and dozens more sharing their condolences even they could not physically be in the church Wednesday.
