For each person living up here on our city’s streets, there’s another below the soil of Ford Park Cemetery.
Around 250,000 people have been laid to rest here, according to the last count at the turn of the millennium. It will be a much larger number now.
This 34 acre working cemetery sits in the heart Plymouth, and has since 1848.
The headstone of Ford Park s first burial still stands today; he was lowered into the ground a few weeks after the cemetery opened. That was Elias Easterbrook, aged just three-and-a-half when he passed.
