Tribhuvan with Flavien Prat wins the $500,000 Grade 1 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Arklow, who finished fourth in last year s Grade 1 United Nations, went off as the favorite for the 2021 edition of the 1 3/8-mile stakes race, but, instead of Arklow s redemption, the United Nations was the Tribhuvan show from gate to wire on Saturday at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, N.J.
At the break, Winters Back took the lead for a beat before ceding the front to Tribhuvan and jockey Flavien Prat, who stretched out their advantage to six lengths early in the race. From there, the field was simply chasing the son of Irish sire Toronado, who set fractions of :24.01 for the first quarter and :49.32 for the first half. Behind him Winters Back, Epic Bromance, and Imperador held steady, with Arklow back in sixth.
