tonight police are searching the property of suspected serial killer rex heuermann as they gather more evidence in the gilgo beach murders investigation. cnn s jean casarez reports from the scene just outside his long island home. reporter: police confirming they ve been using ground penetrating radar technology as a backhoe to dig outside the home of cereal killing suspect rex heuermann to see if they can find anything of forensic value underneath that ground, perhaps more evidence of human remains. it is a different type of technology, but it will help us be able to identify anything in that back yard that we need to take into our possession. reporter: authorities not ruling out today that heuermann
happened just next door as cnn s jean casarez reports. reporter: crime scene investigators continue to process the scene at defendant rex heuermann s home on long island. the murders may have occurred in 2008 and 2009, but investigators continue their pursuit to find any evidence that can help prosecutors in the upcoming trial. neighbors in the area still stand in disbelief. the guy was odd and strange, but never violent. reporter: neighbors of suspected serial killer rex heuermann speaking out about his past behavior. one telling news nation heuermann doug holes in his back year, another saying they remained friendly after a confrontation 28 years ago when heuermann would look over the fence and try to talk to his wife while she was sunbathing. it happened so many times that finally i pulled him over and we had a talk.
