Visiting Artist
Peter Erskine brings his special blend of jazz, pop and educational experience to Vienna. The veteran of Weather Report, Steps Ahead and more than 700 albums and film scores considers Vienna a city close to his heart. It is a magical place that always beckoned me, he says. My travels around the world, and my years with Joe Zawinul, especially, led me to understand the beauty and creative possibilities connected to Vienna s rich musical history. We are bringing the latest technology to this mission, and joining JAM is a great honor.
Erskine s arrival expands JAM s mission to develop future generations of music-makers, from within Vienna and abroad. Peter‘s spirit and humanity are in his music, says Marcus Ratka, Director of JAM. You can hear it and feel it. His methodologies and dedication to music study align perfectly with ours. We re delighted to welcome him.
