IOWA CITY, Iowa – No. 7 seed Florida State Women’s Basketball ended its 2022-23 campaign after falling to 10th-seeded Georgia, 66-54, on Friday afternoon in the NCAA First Round held at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The Seminoles (23-10) were without the services of proven scorers Ta’Niya Latson and O’Mariah Gordon due to injuries. They also sustained a long time period without All-ACC Team member Makayla Timpson, who suffered a cut above her eye five minutes into the game and missed nearly the rest of the first half. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State fought through a tough Syracuse team to claim back-to-back victories against the Orange for the first time since 2015, winning 78-65 on Thursday night at the Tucker Center. The win also elevates them to 10 conference wins for the eighth consecutive season.
Erin Howard got the night started with a three from distance on the first possession, that along with some signature Ta’Niya Latson drives to the basket forced Syracuse coach Felisha Legette-Jack into an early timeout. Syracuse regained some ground and briefly held the lead before Makayla Timpson leaped over the Orange players in the paint for the offensive board and converted the tough layup. The first ten went by with a 24-17 Noles lead.
