On Tuesday, April 27th gunfire erupted in the courtyard of the Bell Atlantic Apts in Richmond, VA. Filled with women and children playing, 30 year old Shamez Hill and her three month old daughter were caught in the crossfire and killed. Hill died at the scene, her daughter died at the hospital. A gunshot wound to the stomach. Three unidentified victims, ages 11-29, were taken to the hospital.
No one knows what precipitated the shooting, or why. Why anyone would shoot into an area filled with children.
Since the shooting, Richmond police have arrested three suspects. 19 year old Shamondrick Perry, 22 year old Donald Hemmings and 23 year old Shyheem Martin have been apprehended and taken into custody.

RICHMOND, Va. Crime Insider sources say nearly a dozen shots were fired in the 1300 block of Oakland Road Monday afternoon.
Around 2:15 p.m., those sources say a bus for special education students was close to where the gunfire erupted.
Police arrived and found a Honda sedan in the ditch, but no victim inside.
A victim did show up later at a local hospital but denied being hit at the Oakland road location.
People living nearby say the shooting has rattled their nerves.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) A 14-year-old boy has been charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old more than two weeks ago, Richmond police said.
The suspect also was charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, news outlets reported. The teenager’s name is not being released because of his age.
According to police, Jaywan Riley, 15, was shot at around 4:45 p.m. on April 8 in south Richmond. Riley, a high school freshman, was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
So far, police have not commented on what led to the shooting.
