When the New Orleans Saints signed wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders as a free agent last spring, it was in the hope that he would add a long-awaited second threat at the position to go along with All-Pro Michael Thomas at the position.
Thomas suffered an ankle injury in the season opener that sidelined him for nine games and limited his effectiveness all season. That elevated Sanders into the featured wideout and again left the team with a thin receiving corps.
Copied!
The Seahawks 2020 season unfortunately came to an abrupt end in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, so it s time for an end-of-season mailbag that is coming a little earlier than most folks, the team most of all, were expecting after a 12-4 regular season that saw the Seahawks capture their fifth NFC West title under Pete Carroll and John Schneider.

A: Can I get back to you after we know what happens to some of Seattle s free agents?
OK, so you probably want an answer now, but in truth it s hard to say without knowing what might happen with some of Seattle s top players heading into free agency, a group that includes linebacker K.J. Wright, running back Chris Carson, cornerback Shaquill Griffin, and starting offensive linemen Ethan Pocic and Mike Iupati. For example, if Carson and Carlos Hyde, also a free-agent, re-sign, then tha

The Seahawks host the Rams at Lumen Field on Saturday in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, and injuries are a key storyline for both teams. Seahawks Pro-Bowl safety Jamal Adams and starting defensive tackle Jarran Reed both left last week s game with injuries, while the Rams played in Week 17 without quarterback Jared Goff, who had surgery less than two weeks ago after injuring his thumb in L.A. s Week 16 loss in Seattle. Adams status became less of a mystery on Wednesday, however, when he emphatically declared that he is playing.
Thursday s Injury Report
The Seahawks should head into Saturday s game at or very near full strength, with only two players listed on the final injury report. That being said, the two listed as questionable, cornerback Shaquill Griffin and defensive tackle Jarran Reed, are both important parts of Seattle s defense, so missing either of them would be significant.

The Seahawks will play their final regular-season game minus a few key players due to injury or illness, but there are no surprises on their Week 17 inactive list ahead of Sunday s game against the 49ers.
Among those out is Greg Olsen. The veteran tight end was listed as questionable on Friday, but Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Olsen would get the weekend off to help his foot recover for the playoffs. We re going keep him out of this game is what we re going to do, Carroll said. Just to make sure that he s ready next week. Just a little flare-up from last week, but he handled it well, practiced today and got through it and all that, but we just think the best thing to do is to give him another weekend.
Right tackle Brandon Shell would be set to return to the lineup this week for the Seattle Seahawks from injury after missing time with a high-ankle sprain. However, a close contact with a positive COVID-19 case may have that return in jeopardy.
