Earl Williams, 39, of St. Paul, turned himself in Christmas night, was arrested and charged with Manslaughter in connection with the death.

The 2-year-old boy, identified as Jayse Damir Wilson, was severely injured after he shot himself in the head in the early afternoon last Wednesday, CBS Minnesota reported.
Police officers and medics arrived at the apartment in St. Paul after someone dialed 911 reporting that a boy had “hurt his head,” according to CBS Minnesota. They found the boy with a gunshot wound on his forehead.

Earl Williams, 39, was charged in Ramsey County District Court with second-degree manslaughter and illegal possession of a firearm in the death of Jayse Damir Wilson. Williams turned himself in on Christmas roughly 24 hours after prosecutors charged him via sealed warrant.
Court records show he is on probation in Ramsey County and is ineligible to possess a firearm. Williams remains jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Jayse s death marked St. Paul s 34th homicide of 2020 tying the capital city s deadliest year of 1992.

ST PAUL, Minn. St. Paul police said an arrest has been made in the shooting death of a two-year-old boy on Dec. 23.
In a post on social media on Monday, police said 39-year-old Earl Williams turned himself in on Christmas night. He was arrested and charged with second degree manslaughter and weapons charges.
Police also identified the boy who was killed as Jayse Damir Wilson.
According to a criminal complaint, emergency crews were called to an apartment on the 800 block of Rice Street on Wednesday afternoon on a report of a toddler with a medical emergency. Medics discovered three of the boy s siblings checking on him in a bathroom, where officers also discovered blood on the floor and a bullet hole in the ceiling. The boy died at the scene.

Officers were called to a North End apartment building at 850 Rice St. about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a child who had hurt his head. On arrival, they learned that the toddler suffered a gunshot wound to the forehead. He died in the ambulance eight minutes later, said police spokesman Steve Linders.
