"I believe Monica has the right skill set, experience and dedication to our community needed to take on this role," said McPherson in a release shared Sunday. "She has been a terrific leader for our County, especially when it comes to health and human services, which are critical areas for the Board of Supervisors. I know she will work hard for the people of the Fifth District."
Within a five-week period this fall, the district saw its Director of Finance Kendra Reed and District Manager/General Manager Rick Rogers move on from their roles due, in part, to interactions with Bob Fultz, a board member since 2018.
"Residents in their districts can be grateful for the stewardship of Bruce McPherson and Zach Friend," writes the Sentinel Editorial Board. "Both have served honorably and will be sorely missed. Santa Cruz County will be the poorer without their leadership."
