Winterhawks give up last 4 goals, lose 6-4 to Everett: Ben Hemmerling’s goal with 3:08 left in the game was the game winner, as the Everett Silvertips scored the last four goals of the game to beat the Portland Winterhawks 6-4 at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington. It’s Everett’s seventh straight win over Portland, in what have usually been matchups between the top two teams in the division.
Portland off to the fast start: Portland played their best period of the season in the 1st period, scoring twice in the first 1:38 behind Jaydon Dureau and Reece Newkirk, and taking a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. Going into that period, the Silvertips had only given up 6 goals in 8 full games.

Trending Winterhawks: March 18 starts a compact schedule
Updated Feb 24, 2021;
1. A sprint begins March 18
The WHL’s Central Division, which is the province of Alberta, begins this Friday. Their teams are playing two games per weekend, with the same matchup in both games. Because the division has an odd number of teams, there will have to be byes. So for the season those teams will be playing less than two games per week. Their schedule isn’t filled out yet but if they follow their announced guidelines the earliest the regular season ends will be June 5.
The Winterhawks and the US Division are taking, shall we say, a different approach. They will start three weeks later than Alberta, on March 18, and finish three weeks earlier, on May 11.
