The BMC seals a private educational institute for violating Covid rules in Bhubaneswar on Monday
BHUBANESWAR: Detection of Covid cases in educational institutions has created a challenge for the state government. If the cases increase, the pandemic will disrupt planned syllabi and exam schedule.
The BJB Autonomous College here on Monday issued a notice regarding the detection of a Covid case on campus. A student from the commerce stream of the junior college tested positive on Saturday. The college has advised students who have come in contact with the infected person to isolate themselves for at least seven days and go for RT-PCR test.

Meanwhile, Airfield police detained the suspect Rakesh Swain and is interrogating him.
Jharaphula Nayak’s, 21, father Ramakant Nayak in his FIR said, “Rakesh Swain, who was engaged in pipeline work in our village, developed an affair with my daughter during the time when she had returned home from the university due to the lockdown. Both were having conversations through WhatsApp and video call.”
He also alleged involvement of Rakesh in murdering Jharaphula.
“She had gone to Bhubaneswar January 24 to attend birthday function of Chakradhar Sir’s daughter. The event was held January 25. Around 11 am January 26, Chakradhar Sir dropped her at Jaydev Vihar square, where she boarded a private bus to return to the village.

Bhubaneswar: The main accused in the death of Ramadevi Women’s University Plus-III second year student Jharaphula Nayak, has confessed that he was in a relationship with the deceased. During his interrogation at the police station, accused Rakesh Swain said that he was in love with the girl. Rakesh said that he had met Jharaphula at Jashipur village in Mayurbhanj district. Jharaphula was staying at her residence due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown while Rakesh was engaged in the laying of underground pipes during that period in the same village.
