FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two freshmen women’s tennis players earned three All-SEC honors as announced by the Southeastern Conference office on Thursday. Morgan Cross was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and Indianna Spink earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors and was selected First-Team All-SEC as well.
Spink is currently ranked No. 42 in singles play, good for ninth-best in the SEC and standing as the only freshman in the top 10 in the league. She completed her first regular season with an impressive 15-6 record, 8-3 at home. Spink has played the entirety of the conference season at the number one and two spots for the Razorbacks, accumulating a 6-2 record. Spink has tallied five ranked wins in her rookie campaign so far and has never lost to an unranked opponent dating back to the fall season.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The No. 28 University of Arkansas women’s tennis team lost at No. 20 Texas A&M on Sunday, starting off hot in singles play but eventually dropped a 4-1 decision to the Aggies. With the loss, the Razorbacks fall to 10-9 on the season and 4-9 in Southeastern Conference play.
In doubles play, number one pair Morgan Cross and Tatum Rice secured a 6-3 win over No. 43-ranked Aggies Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith. Lauren Alter and Indianna Spink paired up for a battle on court two but fell to Renee McBryde and Dorthea Faa-Hviding 6-3.
Now with both Arkansas and Texas A&M with one win apiece, both teams looked to court three, where Kelly Keller and Laura Rijkers faced Riley McQuaid and Katya Townsend. Townsend and McQuaid ultimately came up with the 6-4 win, clinching the doubles point for the Aggies.

The game ball shot back-and-forth, rainbowed toward the sky, and then eventually spiked down with a vengeance from junior Ida Jarlskog.
The match concluded after two hours, and liters of sweat on the floor proved the grit the Gators displayed.
While the women’s team offed Texas A&M for their second upset in a row, the men rode high back to Gainesville after they added to their win streak.
