The Philippines is already ramping up for the 2022 Presidential Elections, and many politicians will court the LGBTQIA+ community vote with promises of change. But how will the LGBTQIA+ vote matter? We ask members of the community about the results and concrete measures they need from politicians this coming 2022 elections.

Greater institutional protection for the LGBTQIA+ community is a goal that cuts across the vast network of advocates and activists in the Philippines. It is borne out of a collective history of struggle and lived experiences of oppression and discrimination.

MANILA – The Davao Regional Trial Court issued a warrant of arrest against six administrators of United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) in Haran, Davao del Norte for charges of child abuse.
In its second manifestation, the group stressed that the SC should revisit the CA ruling as their leaders and members continue to experience judicial harassment, threats, and red-tagging by military and police authorities, including those perpetrated by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) spokesperson and Southern Luzon Command chief Antonio Parlade Jr.

On March 29 and March 12, 2021, respectively, Elisa “Tita” Lubi and Jayvee “Jay” Apiag filed a motion before the Davao City Regional Trial Court – Branch 52 to defer the implementation of the arrest warrants issued by the court against them on December 14, 2020, and to conduct further investigations into their cases.
