Former Israeli army soldiers helped save Gaslamp shooting victim

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Monday, ABC 10News spoke to the medics who are credited with saving the life of one of the men who was injured during last week s shooting in the Gaslamp Quarter.
A valet attendant was killed. Three tourists and a San Diegan were injured before police captured the gunman. We saw the guy shooting at the people. We just took a few steps back. We didn t know what was going on, said Shai Gino. He and Dvir Benesh are former soldiers who served in the Israeli army and now live in San Diego where they work as home remodelers. They re in their mid-20s.

SAN DIEGO Four people who were wounded in an unprovoked “ghost gun” attack that also killed a valet at a San Diego hotel are expected to recover but two remained hospitalized, police said Monday.
Steven Ely, 68, of San Diego was shot in the torso in Thursday night’s attack and was in stable condition. Vincent Gazzani, 27, of Perrineville in Monmouth County, was shot in the upper body and also remained hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
Ely’s wife, Linda Ely, told KFMB-TV that the retired teacher has undergone two surgeries.

The man accused of opening fire on five people, killing one person, in the Gaslamp Quarter last week with an unregistered ghost gun before he was stopped and tackled by two good Samaritans is due in court Tuesday on an unrelated charge.
Travis Sarreshteh, 32, is slated to face a judge in San Diego s East County for a charge of California Business and Professions Code 7582.3(A) in a separate incident. Court filings show he s facing a misdemeanor charge of providing security for a marijuana business without having a license to do so.

Three New Jersey residents were among four people hurt in a deadly shooting in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego last week, authorities said.
