New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: The Supreme Court Thursday questioned the policy of the Gujarat government and the Centre about selective application for remission (premature release) of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case serving jail sentences for gangrape and murder.
The Supreme Court of India on Thursday sought clarification from the Gujarat and Union Governments on the selective application of remission policies for convicts serving prison terms.

New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday, while opposing the remission granted to 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano gang-rape case, said that release of these convicts might pose a danger to her life and it is a crime against humanity.
The Court was considering a batch of pleas challenging the decision of the Gujarat government to grant remission to 11 convicts who had gang-raped Bilkis Bano and murdered her family members during 2002 Gujarat riots.
