Prosecutors submit evidence that Kenosha, Wisconsin shooter Rittenhouse has ties to fascist Proud Boys
Prosecutors in Kenosha, Wisconsin, filed a motion on Thursday that asked Judge Bruce Schroeder to allow them to introduce evidence showing that the vigilante shooter Kyle Rittenhouse is associated with the fascist Proud Boys organization.
Kenosha County Assistant District Attorneys Thomas Binger and Jason Zapf filed their “other acts” motion in the prosecution of Rittenhouse, who has been charged with killing two men and injuring a third during protests against police violence on August 25, 2020.
The charges including homicide and attempted homicide are based on interviews with eyewitnesses who saw Rittenhouse brandishing an AR15-style assault rifle during the protests and firing it recklessly when he was confronted by protesters. Prosecutors are trying to introduce evidence at trial that Kyle Rittenhouse is associated with the Proud Boys and that he had a past violent encounter on Kenoshaâs lakefront.
The state filed an âother actsâ motion Thursday asking the court to admit evidence at Rittenhouseâs trial for shooting three men during protests in Kenosha last August. The shooting left two men dead and another seriously injured. Rittenhouse, 18, is charged with two counts of homicide and one of attempted homicide. He and his supporters have maintained that Rittenhouse was defending himself when he shot the men.

During Kyle Rittenhouseâs recent visit to a Racine County tavern, he drank beer, flashed white power signs while posing for photos, and was serenaded with the Proud Boys anthem, according to documents filed by prosecutors Wednesday.
Shortly after he formally entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment on Jan. 5, Rittenhouse spent about two hours at Pudgyâs Pub with his mother and several other people. A photo of Rittenhouse in the bar, wearing a T-shirt that said âFree as [expletive],â was widely shared on social media last week, outraging some in the community. Mount Pleasant Police visited the bar after a complaint, obtaining security video that confirmed Rittenhouse had been in the bar.
