This is the face of the thief caught red-handed stealing lead from a Wiltshire church roof.  Claude Denham, 30, was jailed for 14 months at Winchester Crown Court this week for stripping metal from the roof of St James Church, Devizes, in 2019.  Together with associate Jason Wynter, the pair were caught redhanded by the vicar and a parishioner who were inside the church for a night vigil.  Wiltshire Police has now released Denham s custody shot.  Welcoming the sentence, PC Emily Thomas of the force s rural crime team, said: Heritage crime is taken very seriously within Wiltshire Police, this type of offence is upsetting for the public that rely on these historic buildings for various aspects of community life.
