Benjamin Davis is ready to help unveil a public art project that will welcome visitors to Erie’s west bayfront in a big way.
Davis, 27, is the operations manager at Gene Davis Sales and Service, 1119 Payne Ave. His metal fabrication company is putting the finishing touches on a 10-foot-wide, 5-foot-high “Erie” sign that will be erected on the bluff at Bayview Park near the foot of Cherry Street.
The 500-pound steel sign was the brainchild of Davis and local architect Jason Wieczorek, who also serves on the board of directors for Our West Bayfront, a nonprofit neighborhood group launched in 2016 to boost the quality of life in Erie’s west bayfront neighborhoods.
