I figured Sen. Trent Lott held the world championship in the apology Olympics. But now comes Rep. James Moran, who seems to have trounced even the Mississippi senator in the belly-crawl competition.
Mr. Moran s offense, as the world now knows, was to say that American Jews have played a large role in pushing the United States into the coming war with Iraq and thereby utter what is supposed to be unutterable about Jewish power and Jewish loyalty.

Bluffton University’s music department will give the 125th performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, via livestream at www.bluffton.edu/mus.
Soloists are Erin Keesy, soprano; Lauren McAllister, mezzo-soprano; Jason Vest, tenor; and Robert Kerr, baritone.

Keesy has made solo appearances with the Cincinnati POPS orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, Butler Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.
She also performed as a young artist with Cincinnati Opera. Keesy made her international solo debut last year in Seoul, South Korea, singing the soprano solos in Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” with the Seoul Oratorio Festival.
