that s, get this, 10,000 times more radioactive than normal. on the phone, jason mix, a global radio news reporter based out of tokyo. jason? reporter: hi there. yeah, this is a real shame for the people who have been working at the plant. they thought they d been making steady progress over the last few days. they d restored some electricity, some power, so it was looking quite positive. and as you say, 10,000 times the levels they were expecting. and the real concern that this is reactor number three, and this is the only reactor at the plant that uses plutonium in its fuel base. so, obviously, if there is some sign of a breach, then it s a particular concern there. although they are getting mixed messages. a nuclear official earlier there was a suggestion that there could have been a breach, but then they were trying to suggest there might be other reasons
with the radiation levels. it could have been water leakage from pipes or something of that nature. so things are very unclear. but the prime minister did give a statement today saying that it s actually far from over. he said there s absolutely no reason to be be complacent, and obviously it s a worrying situation, still very uncertain. i mean, then in tokyo, obviously, we ve had then the concerns about radiation. there was a warning earlier this week about water in tokyo not being suitable for children under the age of 1. that s now been lifted, but now a neighboring prefecture is actually warning about the toxicity of the water there. so, again, it changes on a daily basis. jenna: two weeks to the day, jason, two weeks to the day two-week anniversary, if you will, of the earthquake and sue tsunami, and still so many
