Jason McMahan was denied bail during a hearing Wednesday, one day after he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery stemming from the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Tashawnna Anderson.
McMahan’s girlfriend called police for a second time when a woman with a gun in her purse tapped on the car’s passenger side window. McMahan got out and punched her in the face, prosecutors said. As she fell to the ground, McMahan fired several shots, striking Tashawna Anderson in the chest and wounding Anderson’s sister in the leg, prosecutors said.
A 36-year-old man was charged Wednesday in the April fatal shooting of a 26-year-old woman, and for seriously injuring a 31-year-old woman in the Near North neighborhood, Chicago police said.
