A man found shot to death in Bennington, Vt., on Wednesday was wanted as one of four people who allegedly kidnapped a Springfield, Vt., man days earlier and held him at gunpoint in an apparent dispute over drugs, according to court documents released.

Investigators said 23-year-old Colby Boyce, of Guilford, was dropped off at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital at approximately 6:25 p.m., with multiple gunshot wounds. Boyce was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. Police say the shooting may have occurred on Guilford Center Road, but all aspects of the case including the location remain under investigation. The Vermont State Police is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday, January 24, 2021, in southeastern Vermont.
The state police was notified at about 6:25 pm Sunday that a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds had been dropped off at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Responding detectives spoke with the victim, later identified as Colby Boyce, 23, of Guilford. Boyce was subsequently flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and is currently in the intensive care unit.
Subsequent investigation indicates the shooting might have occurred on Guilford Center Road in Guilford, but all aspects of the case, including the location, remain under active investigation at this time.
