COVID-19’s economic impact on Northwestern NC
According to preliminary reports released in May by App State’s Center for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (CERPA), COVID-related restaurant and bar closures in April alone cost the Northwestern North Carolina region an estimated
$52.4 million in lost gross regional product.
This $52.4 million translates to
more than 8,000 full-time jobs lost in the month of April and a corresponding
