Twice since the pandemic began, the billionaire CEO of Loblaw Companies Ltd. has risked job action by the company’s low wage workers in a bid to cut their $2 pandemic premium pay. More than just cutting costs, this is about keeping workers desperate or in the company’s words, “flexible.” Desperate workers tend to tolerate wage cuts to make them more desperate still. Every cut won will be used to aid the next one.
Maribyrnong police are inviting the local community to complete a survey about safety issues.
The survey is for people who live, work or visit Braybrook, Footscray, Kingsville, Maidstone, Maribyrnong, Seddon, Tottenham, West Footscray and Yarraville.
People are asked to rank their top three safety concerns out of alcohol or other drugs, online safety, youth offending, safety of property and possessions, family violence, road safety and firearm safety.
They are also asked to rate how safe they feel at shopping centres, train stations, bus stops, and in streets, parks and public spaces.
Maribyrnong Local Area Commander, Acting Inspector Jason Forster said the survey would help police meet the community’s needs.
