NASA and other partner agencies are now working on a new Interstellar Probe that would help the international space company to explore unknown interstellar space. Aside from this, the upcoming spacecraft is also expected to capture the actual appearance of the Solar System.

In this artist s impression supplied by the ESO (European Southern Observatory) on April 25, 2007, the planetary system around the red dwarf, Gliese 581, is pictured showing what astronomers believe is the most earth like planet found outside our solar system to date. Using the ESO 3.6-m telescope in Chile, astronomers have uncovered the planet which could have water running on its surface. The planet orbits the faint star Gliese 581, which is 20.5 light-years away in the constellation Libra.

The latest round of NASA funding to boost the development of advanced concepts includes a space-based neutrino detector, an interstellar probe powered by solar sails, and a radio telescope built inside a crater on the far side of the Moon.

NASA’s Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program is one of my favorite things in the world, as it offers a potential sneak peek into the future. Sure, not every proposal will get approved in the end, but some of these concepts might actually take flight. And for those ideas that die on the vine, at least they gave us a chance to dream of what might actually be possible.

NASA recently released a pallet packed with 2.9 tons of old batteries, making it the most massive load of space trash from the International Space Station (ISS) to date.

According to a report from Spaceflight Now, ISS astronauts had been conducting spacewalks to replace 48 aging nickel-hydrogen power packs with the more powerful lithium-ion power storage units. Mission controllers in Houston commanded the Canadarm2 robotic arm to release an external pallet loaded with old nickel-hydrogen batteries into Earth orbit on Thursday [Mar. 11] morning, NASA wrote in a blog post.
They added that the space debris is safely moving away from the station and will orbit Earth between two and four years before burning up harmlessly in the atmosphere.
