NEW YORK (AP) A man who drove off the road in this week’s snowstorm spent 10 hours trapped in his car after a passing plow and rapidly accumulating snow buried it, finally managing to get a 911 call through and being rescued in the nick of time by a New York state trooper.
Kevin Kresen, 58, of Candor, drove off the road in the town of Owego and became “plowed in by a truck,” state police said.
“If he was in there for another hour his body temperature would have gone lower, and I’m convinced he wouldn’t have made it,” State Police Sgt. Jason Cawley, who rescued the man, said in an interview.

(AP) A New York state trooper has rescued a man stranded for 10 hours in a car buried in snow by a passing plow during this week’s storm. Kevin Kresen, of Candor, drove off the road, got plowed in and made several 911 calls early Thursday.
A 58-year-old upstate New York man was trapped in his car for 10 hours with no heat after a plow covered his vehicle with four feet of snow during Storm Gail.
Kevin Kresen, a resident of Candor, New York, was treated for hypothermia and frostbite after authorities rescued him from his vehicle in Owego on Thursday.
The area around Owego, which includes Binghamton, saw record snowfall on Thursday, with totals exceeding 40 inches in some parts of the region.

A Southern Tier man was rescued by a State Police trooper Thursday after he was stranded in his car for 10 hours without any heat.
State Police said Sgt. Jason Cawley responded to 911 calls from a man who had called Tioga County authorities and had run off the road and needed assistance.
But law enforcement in the area had not located the driver as more than 40 inches of snow crippled the Binghamton area.
Cawley continued the search Thursday and drove to the section of State Route 17C in the town of Owego, in the Campville area, where the reports appeared to be coming from.
