For three years, John Jason Cecil, Keith Ramsey, Haywood Bennett and Shannon Shaw have been biking around Richmond – pursuing what Cecil calls a long-time love of cycling.
“I think bikes are like the first bit of independence you get as a child, says Cecil. Once you learn how to ride a bike, it’s like, ‘Oooh. We can go!’ I never really lost that.”
They called themselves the
Bike Monday Brothers – meeting each week to explore the city.
“I’ve been in Richmond since ’96, and I’m like, ‘This is here?’ Ramsey says. That’s the thing about riding bikes. You slow down. You’re able to see things you don’t normally see in a car. You’re paying attention to other cars. You’re not looking around. On a bike, you’re just riding around, slow pacing it. ‘Let’s go over here. Let’s go check out what’s down this street.’”
Jason Brightwell was arrested Tuesday after a nine-minute high-speed pursuit.

LUFKIN, Texas Officials have released the body-cam video of a high-speed chase that resulted in the arrest of a Lufkin man.
According to the Lufkin Police Department, Jason Brightwell, 28, of Lufkin was arrested Tuesday after he drove off in a white Jeep Cherokee that was reported stolen out of Smith County.
Police say officers were initially called to assist another agency to locate the stolen vehicle. A short time later, an officer came upon the vehicle on FM 2021 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Brightwell refused to stop.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin police have arrested a man who they say led officers on a high-speed chase Tuesday afternoon.
Jason Brightwell, 29, was arrested on a charge of evading arrest after he allegedly fled from officers in a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Smith County. The police report states that officers initially were called to assist another agency to search for the vehicle, however after a short time an officer came upon the vehicle on Farm to Market Road 2021 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Brightwell allegedly refused to stop before leading police units on a nine-minute, high-speed pursuit.
