Stampede drop weekend opener to Waterloo

By Rick Keller Apr 10, 2021 5:21 AM WATERLOO, IA (KELO.com)  – The Sioux Falls Stampede dropped the opening game of a two-game, weekend series against the Waterloo Black Hawks 6-3 at Young Arena Friday night. Nate Schweitzer, Luke Toporowski and Cole Sillinger scored for the Herd in the loss. Trent Burnham made the start in net. The Waterloo Black Hawks opened the scoring with the first two goals of the contest from Owen Ozar at 6:11 and Casey Severo at 12:27 of the first period. Defensemen Nate Schweitzer and affiliate Max Rud combined to cut the deficit in half with a goal in the opening 1:01 of the second period. The eighth goal of the season for Colorado College commit Schweitzer.

Stampede finish weekend with loss

By Rich Keller Apr 4, 2021 7:27 AM SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls Stampede fell 5-1 in a weekend sweep to the Tri-City Storm at the PREMIER Center Saturday night. Cole Sillinger scored for the Herd, while Burnham made the start in net. Cole O’Hara scored the opening goal for the second-straight night at 2:59 of the first period. Cole Sillinger even the score with a goal at 14:40, collecting a pass from Clint Levens and tucking it under the stick of Todd Scott. Rhett Pitlick gave the Storm the lead at 17:40 and Victor Czerneckianair gave the Storm the 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

By Rich Keller Apr 3, 2021 6:17 AM SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls Stampede dropped a 4-1 decision to the Tri-City Storm at the PREMIER Center Friday night. Nate Schweitzer scored the lone goal for the Herd, while Burnham made the start in net, stopping 25 of 29 shots. The Tri-City Storm tallied three of their four goals in the first period. Cole O’Hara was the first player on the board, scoring his tenth of the season unassisted, at the 6:29 mark. Matthew Knies made it 2-0 at 14:26 of the period. Stampede defenseman Nate Schweitzer tallied his seventh goal of the season at 16:08 to cut the lead in half, but Hunter Strand scored on the power play to close out the first with a 3-1 lead.
