Pair indicted in hit-and-run crash that injured motorcyclists
Jarome Starner and Melannis Stevens indicted for critically injuring a Waynesburg couple
COSHOCTON – Two individuals involved in a hit -and-run crash that critically injured a Waynesburg couple on a motorcycle were recently indicted by the Coshocton County Grand Jury.
According to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, on March 27 Shawn O’Neill, 57, and his wife, Robin, 58, were struck on Ohio 751, near Township Road 250. Authorities said the motorcycle struck a guardrail and came to rest in a ditch with both riders being ejected.
In relation to the incident, Jarome L. Starner, 39, of Coshocton was indicted with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Melannis L. Stevens, 45, of West Lafayette, was indicted with two counts of failure to stop after an accident, fifth-degree felonies, two counts of vehicular assault, fourth-degree felonies, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.
Arraignments Monday in hit-and-run crash
COSHOCTON, Ohio – Two defendants are scheduled for arraignment in connection to a car-motorcycle crash that seriously injured two people. Court records show 45-year-old Melannis Stevens from Newcomerstown and 39 year-old Jarome Starner of Coshocton will appear Monday in Common Pleas Court.
Stevens faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, vehicular assault and tampering with evidence. Starner faces one count of tampering with evidence. Authorities allege Stevens was driving a vehicle March 27 on State Route 751 when she went left of center, striking a motorcycle and left the scene of the accident.
The two people on the motorcycle, 58-year-old Shawn O’Neill and 57-year-old Robin O’Neill from Waynesburg, suffered life-threatening injures and were transported to a Columbus hospital for treatment.
