By: CBS News PENSACOLA, Florida - On Tuesday, an 11-year-old girl was waiting for the school bus in Pensacola, Florida, when a man armed with a knife charged at her. It was 7:00 a.m. broad daylight and the suspected was attempting to abduct the girl. But she fought back. Surveillance video released by the Escambia County Sheriff s Office shows a white Dodge Journey pull up and a man get out and run toward the girl. She picks up her backpack and runs, but the suspect grabs her. The girl was able to struggle free and the suspect flees the scene.

It took ECSO about eight hours to find suspect and vehicle Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said more than 50 deputies descended on the Warrington area to find the suspect. Jared Paul Stanga, a 30-year-old Pensacola man, was apprehended about eight hours after the thwarted abduction. Girl was approached two weeks ago by same man Simmons said the kidnapping appears to be random, although the girl did report that two weeks ago the same man approached her and spoke to her. Simmons didn t detail the specifics of the conversation, but said it was enough to make the girl feel uneasy. He added that it s possible the girl had been watched for several weeks.
