and it s a report that will deeply disappoint the parents of josh and shane who were deeply hoping this or deal would be over for their sons. it appears that this or deal is finally over. a court in iran has convicted bauer and fattal of spying and trespass and sentenced them to eight years in prison, three years for trespassing and three years for spying, a charge that the men and their lawyers have been declaring all along. his attorney says he was ain t ware of the verdict until he heard it in the media. he says he s not going to comment until he s spoken to court officials. of course this is a case that made worldwide headlines shortly after the hikers were detained in july 2009 and it has increased tensions between iran and the u.s. and this verdict certainly won t help relations between washington and tehran. but analysts say this case is far from over. the lawyers have 20 days to appeal the verdict and don t rule out the possibility that iranian authorities will releas

reporter: 17-year-old jared cano s got two arrests for firearms. the first for a stun gun in 2008. the second for a pistol just last year. but guns aren t the only factor linking the arrests. the 2008 report details cano growing verbally angry by yelling profanity at his mother and when officers confronted him last year, a report claims he answered the door with a red aluminum baseball bat that he held in an aggressive manner. he said all that was in his past. and he s moved on. reporter: cano s friend wants his name concealed but tells us the two often played video games together and that s what they planned to do last night when a strange man walked up. i said, who are you? i live here. he said, i m a police officer. pulled out his badge and arrested jared right there. reporter: he thought the arrest might have something to do with weed. cano is vocal about the drug on his facebook page, saying he s about to graduate from the university of marijuana. he s also posted pictur
to kill 30 students and 2 school officials. there were two individual faculty members that were specific targets. officers found material in his room that could be used for making explosive devices. reporter: those materials included fuses, timers, shrapnel, accelerant and plastic tubing. it s always happening somewhere else. it s never going to be happening at your school, your child s school, your city. it s terrifying. reporter: jared cano has an extensive criminal record and he was removed from school over a year and a half ago after what school administrators called inappropriate behavior. under his favorite quotations his facebook page he listed lessons not learned in blood are soon forgotten. the identity of the tipster who alerted police to the plot has been kept confidential, but that individual was praised as a hero. thank you, t.j. and friends are speaking up and they were telling our affifiate in tampa last night that cano had trouble controlling his anger. th
