CSPAN3 Syrian Refugees Discuss Their Experiences May 9, 2016

Test. Test. Test. I will be sharing this with you. So i was born and raised in syria. The one fact that many people do not know or do not expect is that we had a very normal life. We used to go to restaurants. We used to go to the beach. We used to do everything that you guys do here. We used to go to universities, form friendships, have girlfriends, everything that you can imagine. So it is not the country that some people would imagine, the country, the image that isis might try to enforce right now. I consider myself as a person who had a wonderful childhood in syria. All the memories i have are a very beautiful country that i love a lot and i appreciate a lot and i enjoyed a lot. However, one thing started to happen in 2011 everything changed. This change that we had as individuals and especially as young people is huge because you are from a very safe country where you had everything you wanted. We had worries and worry about our future and everything and a lot of short comings an

Aid in and survivors out . Reporter well, there are enormous challenges facing both, the aid effort is getting under way. There are plentiful offers of International Help but the actual aid itself is only trickling into the communities who are so desperately in need. The president ial palace aware of the criticism of that said this morning that they were determined. They will get aid to where its needed. They also blame the slow pace of which the aid is being distributed on the sheer scale of the devastation. Now, International Aid organizations we spoke to said while aid was being flown in say to tacloban, a huge problem was distributing from the airport. There are very few vehicles available, which means that they are having to take it in by hand. That presents all sorts of problems, not at least from a law and order point of view and also an issue with storing it away from the airport. That airport as well has been besieged by desperate people, an estimated 3,000 trying to get out.

Will be a vote for a use of force. And i hope that colleagues who feel as i do, that iran at all costs cannot have the ware with all to achieve nuke nuclear weapons. Well be in a position to support the use of force. Either we have sanctions vigorously pursued hopefully with the goal we collectively want, or the only one other option after that. Assuming it doesnt yield the diplomacy we want. Thats the challenges we face. Mr. Chairman, first of all, thank you for the words. Again, i come back to the fact that i think we should take out of this description of what is happening there the word success and effective. Because as you pointed out, they havent even been effective or successful in getting them to put their Nuclear Program on hold. Indeed, they are expanding it as you eloquently described in your Opening Statement. So i think by using in front of a Committee Like this, Foreign Relations committee of the United States senate for the administration to come here and say, well, you

Refused to spell out what you do in the future and expect people to give you a blank check. You can sit and wait for the british people to come back to you, but dont hold your breath. [applause] if there is one area all of the parties need to put politics aside, it is europe. Britains place in it. The conservatives have this bizarre view that we can turn our back on europe and still lead in the world. As if we will be taken seriously by the american, chinese, indian, all the big superpowers of the modern world when we are isolated and irrelevant in our own backyard. The truth is, we stand tall in washington, in beijing, in delhi, in brussels, paris, berlin. I know it. I have worked there. I have seen with my own eyes what can be achieved for britain by engaging with our neighbors and building the Worlds Largest borderless Single Market a which millions of jobs in our country now depend. Of course the European Union needs reform. No one is saying it doesnt. We cannot allow the contorted
