MANSFIELD - The former Spitzer Dodge dealership will be demolished soon to make way for a convenience store/gas station called Friendship Kitchen.
The property at 744 Park Avenue West transferred to new owners Thursday for $428,000, according to records at the Richland County Auditor s Office.
Friendship Kitchen was granted a conditional use permit on Oct. 27 for new construction of a gas station with convenience store at the site, according to Mansfield City Planning Commission minutes. The property is zoned B-2.
According to the Auditor s Office, the seller, Spitzer Hardware Supply, sold numerous parcels totaling 1.9 acres at the site to Buckeye Investment NWO, whose mailing address is Fremont.

NEW LONDON - At Monday’s meeting, council unanimously voted to make Joe Hicks the permanent police chief. He has served as the interim chief since the death of chief Mike Marko in November. Hicks’ prior department rank was lieutenant.
Upon Hicks’ recommendation, council voted to promote officer Zack Ingram from part time to full time.
