A Pitt County commissioner who believes small locally owned businesses have been treated unfairly during the pandemic is asking the county board to adopt a resolution declaring Pitt County a sanctuary for small businesses.
The Pitt County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to discuss Commissioner Lauren White’s resolution during Monday’s 6 p.m. virtual meeting, which will be broadcast live on Suddenlink channel 13 and youtube.com/pittcountync.
âBusiness owners have a fear of being shut down again. Businesses are run by adults, and adults can make their own decisions. No customer is forced to patronize those businesses,â White said. âIf wearing masks and social distancing and washing hands is good enough for Walmart, Target and Lowes it should be good enough for small, locally owned businesses in Pitt County as well.â
