Spartanburg resident Janice Whisenhunt Pack remembers writing a letter to the chamber of commerce in the 1960s. She was just a teen at the time, but she wanted to see more international restaurants and places to shop in downtown Spartanburg. There really wasn t anything picturesque to me about downtown for a long time. But now there is, said Pack, who is 73.
Now, she loves that the new AC Hotel stands tall on West Main Street. She loves the music that filled Morgan Square pre-pandemic and watching the ice skaters twirl around the square in the winter. She loves that the storefronts are filled with diverse restaurants, boutiques, and shops.
