Annual awards recognizing the work and contributions of local labour representatives went out at Sault Ste. Marie and District Labour Council’s monthly meeting, on May 27. Cody Alexander, president of USW Local 9548, received the annual Health and Safety Award. Former city councillor Joe Krmpotich nominated Alexander in recognition of his focus on keeping himself and his fellow workers safe in the workplace. “Cody has held the safety line for his fellow workers, with his employer, to ensure that the workers go home in the same condition that they arrived at work in,” said Krmpotich in his nomination form.
