Relative of Lee McKnight murder gang members sentenced for supplying drugs

A RELATIVE of Carlisle murder gang members Carol and Coral Edgar committed drugs supply crimes which came to light after she was arrested during the police probe into Lee McKnight’s killing. Janice Edgar, now 41, was detained on the evening July 24, 2020 by officers who also arrested her sister Carol, niece Coral and murder plot leader Jamie Davison. Hours earlier Mr McKnight’s badly-beaten body was found in the River Caldew. He was subjected to brutal violence inside a city house before being transported across the city and dumped in the water while barely alive. Last week, Coral Edgar, Carol Edgar, Davison and three other men were convicted of murdering Mr McKnight. They await sentence.

Two more people plead not guilty to alleged murder of Carlisle man Lee McKnight

Lee McKnight, 26, whose body was found in the River Caldew last year TWO more people have pleaded not guilty to the alleged murder of a man whose body was found in a river in Carlisle. A total of seven people have been charged as part of a large scale probe by detectives into the death of 26-year-old Lee McKnight. Mr McKnight’s body was found in the River Caldew, in the Blackwell Hall area near Cummersdale, by police who had received a call just before 5-30am on July 24 last year. At Carlisle Crown Court last week, two women, a man and an 18-year-old male all pleaded not guilty to a charge which alleges the murder of Mr McKnight. They are Jamie Andrew Davison, aged 26, of Beverley Rise, Carlisle; Carol Diane Edgar, 47, formerly of The Crescent, Cummersdale; Coral Edgar, 26, previously of Charles Street, and Jamie Lee Roberts, 18, of Grey Street, both Carlisle.

FOUR people accused of murdering Carlisle man Lee McKnight have denied the allegation during a hearing at the city’s crown court. During a 40 minute hearing this afternoon, the defendants – four of the six people accused of the killing - formally entered their not guilty pleas to murdering 26-year-old Mr McKnight on July 24 last year. They included the youngest among the accused. He can be named today for the first time because he has become an adult. The four in court today all entered not guilty pleas.
