New Delhi– Indian playback singer Asees Kaur, who has most recently sang ‘Panghat’ for the Janhvi Kapoor-starrer ‘Roohi’ (2021), says that she feels spiritually inclined towards music, since her father wanted her to sing Gurbani. Her musical journey, thus, began with singing shabads in Gurudwaras at the young age of five.
The 32-year-old is fast climbing the Bollywood ladder, and has sung ‘Jaan Ban Gaye’ from ‘Khuda Haafiz’, ‘Dildara Reprise’ from ‘Tamanchey’, ‘Ve Maahi’ from ‘Kesari’, ‘Tere Bin’ from ‘Simmba’, and ‘Bolna’ from ‘Kapoor & Sons’.

Q: What got you interested in music and singing?

Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer Roohi fared well at the box-office on its opening day. The film did an unexpectedly high business on the first day of release.
Despite the critics majorly panning it down, the footfall remained quite high. However, in the second day of the movie, despite it being a weekend, the numbers fell down. The business didn t remain as steady as on Day 1.

Janhvi Kapoor s Roohi made a massive collection of close to Rs 3 crore on day 1 at the box-office. The film had reportedly made an advance booking business of close to 75 - 80% of the seating capacity in major cities.

Manju Warrier, the lady superstar of Mollywood is widely considered one of the finest actresses in the Indian film industry; all credit goes to her natural acting and impeccable screen presence. According to reports, Manju Warrier will be soon making her Bollywood debut with a film that will have R Madhavan in the lead role. The film has been tentatively titled Ameriki Pandit, and it will be directed by debutant Kalpesh.
