The activities of kidnappers and killer herdsmen in the past few months in Edo State have thrown the residents into panic despite assurances by the government and the state police command that lives and property are safe.
It is bad enough that night life is non-existent again in the state due to the fear caused by insecurity, but more worrisome is the fact that kidnappers have found a way to beat the system despite several arrests made by the police in recent times.

GUNMEN suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed seven persons, including farmers at Ugboke, Oshodi, Okokodo, Ariyan and Yoruba Camp in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the PPRO of the State Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident and said all efforts were being made to arrest the perpetrators.
According to Mrs Janet Ighodaro, an indigene of the area, the residents were caught unawares by the blood-thirsty herdsmen.
She said, “The suspected herdsmen took over the popularly know Yoruba camp located in Ovia North-East as a base to launch attack into various communities in our state.

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed no fewer than seven persons, including farmers in Edo State.
The gruesome attack was said to have been carried out yesterday at Ugboke, Oshodi, Okokodo, Ariyan and Yoruba camp situated in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.
According to Mrs Janet Ighodaro, an indigene of the area, “ the suspected herdsmen took over the popularly known Yoruba camp located in Ovia North-east as a base to launch attack on the various communities in our state.”
Ighodaro said she was lucky to escape stray bullets flying around as she ran for safety to take refuge with her family in Benin, the state capital, explaining further that the suspected gunmen shot sporadically killing and leaving seven dead.
