The politically divided Virginia General Assembly has convened a special session at the Capitol to consider compromise budget legislation that’s six months overdue.
More than six months overdue, Virginia legislators finally passed a budget — with $1.1 billion in tax relief, including one-time rebates; and bolstering education funding and money for mental health resources.
Passage of the amendments to the two-year state budget ends a six-month stalemate and sends the plan to Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin for his signature.
